Shutter Speed: 1/30

 Frozen Motion
Aperture: 13
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/160

 Light Writing
Aperture: 29
ISO: 800
Shutter Speed: BULB (15 Seconds)

 Panning
Aperture: 25
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/30

Zoomed Motion
Aperture: 22
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/15

Chrono
Aperture: 11
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed:1/200

By doing this project I was able to learn many more functions of the camera.  I learned how to do light writing by setting the shutter speed to the BULB function.  I also learned how to achieve blurred motion that can have a purpose.  For example, with panning, the subject is in focus and the background is blurred.

Motion Final Plan

My plan for the motion final is to take one or more pictures each day, either in school or out of school.  Then once I have them all, I will edit them in Photoshop, make a contact sheet, and upload them to my blog.

These are examples of the types of pictures I would like to achieve:

Writing with Light Group Experiment

Next time I take pictures like this I will make sure to have my ISO lower so that the background is completely dark.  We kept the shutter speed at bulb, had a low ISO, and our aperture was around 11.

Final Composition

These pictures help tell a story about my life.  In my first collage, I have a picture of exercise equipment because I enjoy exercising and I go to physical therapy a couple times a week.  Then I have a chipotle bag because that is one of my favorite places to eat.  I have a picture of my headphones because I like to listen to music, and the road because I drive to Philadelphia 3 times a week for volleyball practices.  I also have a picture of the THON diamond because I am a committee member.  In my bottom collage I have a picture of a steering wheel because sometimes I drive to school in the morning, a plate of salmon and rice because I like seafood and eating healthy, volleyball nets and a gym because I am always practicing, my hockey jersey because I love the Pittsburgh Penguins, and my calculator and homework because I spend a lot of time every night doing schoolwork.  Utilizing compositional strategies helps the photographer to tell a story to it's viewers.  The use of elements such as symmetrical and asymmetrical balance, leading lines, curved lines, repetition etc...help to create a more in depth photograph with more meaning behind it.

Lighting Final Pictures

Existing Light

Natural Light

Artificial Light

Natural Light

This person is important in my life because she is my sister and is always there for me no matter what.  I can always count on her to have my back in any situation.  Her personality is shy and innocent so in the pictures I took of her, she either wasn't looking directly at the camera, had part of her face covered by her hair, or she was smiling.  During this unit I learned about different types of lighting and I now know how to use them effectively.
